( Previously) Originally, Siddesh had intended to take Nathan on a tour of the Mansion and its grounds upon arriving at the School, like he would with any other new student or member of staff. However, one look at the young man's jetlagged face persuaded him to cut the tour short. They headed straight up the grand stairs to the second floor, and Siddesh unlocked the door to Nate's room while the other man stood behind him. A moment later, he realised his mistake and looked around to Nate. "Sorry," he said, handing him the key. Even seven years later, I'm still too used to the barracks. "I should have let you do that."

He tried to remember the way to his room, he really did, but exhaustion was kicking in now and he was more than happy to simply follow behind Singh.
"Nah, don't worry about it," he replied amiably to the man's apology. He pushed the door open, and smiled as he immediately saw the king bed against one wall. He stepped inside and dropped his backpack on the end of the bed. It was an extremely simple room, but it was easily one of the nicest ones he'd ever seen.
He turned and grinned at Singh, tired but very sincere. "This is great, thank you so much."

"You're welcome," Siddesh said. Nathan's abrupt change in manner since discovering the School's purpose had come as both a surprise and a relief. Siddesh was reasonably sure that the young man's more nervy side wasn't gone for good, not by a long shot, but the fact that Nathan was already looking so much more relaxed was definitely promising.
He tried to think of any other essential information he may have missed out.
"You've got an ensuite," he said, pointing. "Though the students' wing has got bathrooms too, if you're ever in need. We passed the kitchens on our way up, it was the door beside the stairway, first on your right when you're going down the stairs..." What else? "There aren't many of us here, just yet, but there's a young healer boy called Marcel somewhere, a teenage girl called Sally, and our other member of the teaching staff, Alexander. He'll be the one wearing the gas mask."

Nathan glanced when Singh pointed, and nodded along to his speech, but otherwise stayed mostly still, too tired for idle movement. The words "gas mask" caught his attention and part of his mind tried to take note of that.
"There'll be more coming eventually, then," he said, as much a question as a statement. Knowing that he wouldn't get in trouble simply for existing was a great load off his mind; not having to worry about that for once left a lot of mental space free to pursue other thoughts, resulting in a rapidly increasingly curiosity about what other types of mutants would arrive - and had arrived, as he added, "It'll be good meeting 'em all."
